ADULT EDUCATION
The Shreveport-Bossier area is the heart of the educational community in the Ark-La-Tex, offering a wide range of professional, academic and vocational opportunities for Air Force Members and their families.

There are many institutions of higher learning within the local area with courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The education office staff also has information for those who have not finished high school.

Associate, bachelor and graduate degree programs are offered on base by Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Southern Illinois University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Degree programs are offered off base by Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Centenary College, Louisiana State Medical School, Southern University, and Louisiana Technical College.

The Air Force also offers extension courses, DANTES and other college testing services through the education and training center. Information is available for commissioning programs, Bootstrap qualification, the Community College of the Air Force and educational departments. Military members may use either their Air Force tuition assistance or their VA educational benefits to pay for their schooling. Additional financial aid and educational loans are available through the financial aid offices at the particular school the student desires to attend and through the Air Force Aid Society.

ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Good quality secondary education is provided off base for the children of the military community in both Shreveport and Bossier City. Schools require the child's birth certificate, current immunization record, and last school attended in order to register. Children living on base attend Bossier High School. Rusheon Middle School and Waller or Kerr Elementary Schools, all in Bossier Parish.

Bossier has six high schools, seven middle schools, and 16 elementary schools. All of the middle schools are sixth through eighth grade except Elm Grove, which is seventh and eighth only. Caddo has 48 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, and 11 high schools.
